About CraftShop Direct
Is CraftShop Direct a store?
No. We're an independent guide. When you click "Shop now," you're taken to a retailer's website, and your order, shipping and returns are handled by that retailer.
Do you earn money from links?
Our shop links go through /go/ redirects and are marked sponsored. Some may be affiliate links, so we may earn a commission if you buy something, at no extra cost to you.
Why no prices, ratings or reviews?
Prices change constantly and we haven't hands-on tested every product. Rather than publish numbers that go stale, we explain what to look for so you can compare listings yourself.
Supplies & sizes
What size is a standard handmade card?
The A2 card, 4.25 x 5.5 inches folded, cut from half a sheet of 8.5 x 11 cardstock. It fits an A2 envelope. See paper crafts.
What yarn should a beginner buy?
A smooth, light-colored #4 worsted weight yarn with a US 8 (5 mm) needle or an H-8 (5 mm) hook. See knitting & crochet.
Which cutting machine should I get?
We don't pick a winner. Compare the cut width, supported materials, software and any subscription against the projects you want to make. See Cricut & vinyl.
Epoxy or UV resin?
Epoxy for coasters, trays and larger pieces; UV resin for small, thin jewelry pieces. See resin art.
Safety & selling
Are craft supplies safe for kids?
Look for age grading on the package and "Conforms to ASTM D-4236" on art materials, keep small parts away from children under 3, and supervise hot glue, wax and sharp tools. See kids' crafts.
Can I sell what I make?
Usually, but check the rules. Soaps making skin claims can fall under FDA cosmetic rules, precious-metal jewelry descriptions are covered by FTC guides, and designs and fonts used with cutting machines have licenses. Check official guidance for your product and state.
Can I use real candles in my luminaries?
For paper, fabric or leaf crafts, we recommend LED tea lights only.
